The high-speed craft terminal is part of an urban renewal of the artifical island Brattøra in Trondheim. The architecture should convey its infrastructural function, while becoming a site-specific attraction within the urban fabric. Inspired by wooden boats, local craft and the fjord landscape, the project merge the rich history and tradition of the port area with the innovation of high-speed craft transportation. The concept is articulated by a robust choice of materials and structure, recognizable geometrical form, and intuitive flow of passengers and traffic.

Hurtigbåtterminalen er del av byutviklingen på Brattøra i Trondheim. Det er vektlagt at prosjektet i seg selv også blir en stedegen attraksjon i mellom storskala byggeriet i konteksten. Arkitekturen skal tydeliggjøre byggets infrastrukturelle funksjon og transitrom til en hver tid. Samtidig er prosjektet forankret og inspirert av trebåter og byggeriets pragmatiske tilvirkning av et råmateriale, fjorden og havets bølgende landskap, samt havnens rike historie og kultur. På denne måten blandes tradisjon og innovasjon. Dets særpreg er skapt gjennom robust materialbruk og struktur, gjenkjennelig formmessig geometri og tydelig trafikkavvikling/logistikk.
