location: Oslo, Norway program: High school client: Municipal Undertaking for Educational Buildings and Property in Oslo size / value: 6,820 m2 commission type: Invited competition (2013), 2nd prize status: Competition proposal ”Tokerud United” referers architecturally to local and global culture as a comprehensive and distinctive ”learning village” oriented towards both nature and culture. The architecture is therefore conditioned to a human scale with a manifold of forms that make a characteristic building, which appears recognisable and identifiable. The architecture is anchored in both tradition and innovation, through form and materiality – as an educational arena where both past, present and future is relevant for transfer and creation of knowledge. The architecture contains both urban and rural material references - externally preweathered zinc covers roof and walls, while sections of the building have comprehensive use of wood both indoors and outdoors. Natural lighting is introduced to the building through varied and appropriate openings."Tokerud United” har arkitektoniske referanser til lokal og global kultur, som en allsidig og egenartet ”læringslandsby” som orienterer seg både til natur og til kultur. Derfor er arkitekturen bearbeidet i skala med et mangfold av former som danner et karakteristisk bygningsmiljø som fremstår gjenkjennelig og identitetsskapende. Arkitekturen har forankring både i tradisjon og innovasjon, gjennom form og materialitet – som en pedagogisk arena hvor både historie, nåtid og framtid er relevant for kunnskapsoverføring og -oppbygging. Arkitekturen har både bymessige og landlige materialreferanser - utvendig er forpatinert sink brukt på tak og vegger samtidig som skolen har et omfattende bruk. |
